The Coalition

The BC Watershed Security Coalition is a non-partisan, diverse coalition of over 50 organizations interested in Watershed Security, including farmers, Indigenous champions, local governments, and non-profits. We represent 255,000 British Columbians from all walks of life.

This Coalition has come together out of the recognition that, in every region of this province, healthy watersheds are fundamental to human health, security, prosperity and reconciliation.

As a non-Indigenous led coalition, any statement or policy position coming from the Coalition does not speak for Indigenous Peoples.

Raising Industrial Water Rates

BC’s industrial water rates are the lowest in Canada—effectively giving away our most precious resource to some of the world’s largest companies. Meanwhile, communities are facing growing costs from droughts, floods, and wildfires.

We can secure our watersheds and strengthen our economy. By ending the Great Water Giveaway and aligning industrial water rates with other provinces, the BC government can ensure long-term watershed security, support local jobs, and invest in resilient communities all without raising costs for taxpayers.

Take the Watershed Security Pledge

BC’s watersheds are life-giving and under pressure. Join elected officials, organizations, and citizens in committing to protect and restore our rivers, lakes, and wetlands for communities, ecosystems, and the economy.
